DESIRABLE CLIMATE ALL YEAR AROUND

As everywhere around the globe, the Marbella weather has also been changing in the last decade but it continues to be perfect for a holiday resort. You are able to enjoy your pool from May to October easily and the beaches are packed through the summer months. Here is a breakdown of the seasonal patterns we notice living here all year around:

SPRING:

You could call it spring here at the beginning of March when the weather warms. You can expect some rain, but generally not lasting more than 3-4 days at most before the sky turns blue again. Temperature varies between 12-24C which is great for excursions, sightseeing or trekking in the beautiful mountains. This is the best time to see the countryside green and blooming with lush new growth before the `hot and dry´ sets in, towards the end of May.

SUMMER:

Mid May marks the definite start of the summer. It guarantees lots of sunshine and warm weather and there are many family holidaymakers and beach dwellers along the coast. Temperatures soar to 30-40C at the hight of summer, in average it’s around 28C for the rest of the time. The open coastline provides plenty of breeze and the nights are generally comfortable and balmy for outdoors dining. The most suited activities include anything by the beach, lakes or poolside, water sports, yachting or just relaxing in the shade.

AUTUMN:

In September, when the summer holidaymakers return to their countries for work and school, the coast turns into a golfers’ paradise. The heat eases, but the summer vibe continues with the occasional shower only, until the beginning of November. Outdoor sports such as tennis, golf, hiking, horse-riding, safari, excursions and site-seeing are a must. You will probably find the countryside dry and brittle after a long hot summer, but gradually the Andalucían landscape turns beautiful in the autumn. At the start of September average temperature is still 30C, falling to around 20C by end of October.

WINTER:

When the wind picks up and it starts raining, we can officially call it winter. However, it is nothing like the concept we are used to in the North. Generally there is a warm sunny spell in the first week of November, before the temperature falls back to remain at around 10-15C for the rest of the winter months. Apart from some rare exceptions it will not be colder than 7C overnight. Many people visit at Christmas time to enjoy the Marbella weather. December’s mostly glorious weather is often suitable to sunbathe in a nice, wind shielded spot. The most rain usually falls in the month of January, so it can be a bit gloomy with possible floods.

Mostly, on the Costa del Sol it feels like you had a very short winter before the sun comes out again, driving Marbella into its busy season once again.
