Ambience Home Design has been contracted to completely redesign and furnish an old villa in the heart of the renowned Puente Romano area.

The villa was completely stripped down to its core and was put back together carefully piece by piece. There were various architectural design tasks that were commissioned by the team, such as to design feature fireplaces, the ceilings and light effects, all wardrobes and doors to be designed and manufactured to spec, as well as to design all bathrooms, the board room and bar area in the basement.

Andrea Böck, Managing Director of Ambience Home Design, explains: “The property consists of three storeys and a basement. Once we had the main distribution and layout right, we began with the interior design of the various spaces. Our client’s request was to achieve an elegant yet masculine interior reminiscent of a James Bond mood setting, and furthermore maintain the spaces light and fresh to keep it contemporary. We designed French wall panels in some of the rooms to define that look and used other materials such as Calacatta Gold Marble, Black Marquina marble, aged brass, etc. to contrast. A beautiful fish-bone floor was our choice throughout.”

The ground floor TV lounge used to have a dark feel to it and the team changed this by placing a long light sofa flanked by two beautiful carved armchairs. Touches of lovely green tones can be found on the chesterfield pouffe, coffee tables and cushions, leaving the fireplace with integrated storage to be the focal point in the room.

On the first floor we have a small reception area with a loveseat opposite the fireplace also designed by Ambience, where a stunning black piano contrasts beautifully against the light oak fish-bone wooden floor. The upstairs lounge is more of a formal smaller seating area, with two Chesterfield Desiree sofas lending a welcoming yet modern look to the space. The open kitchen Calacatta Dining table from Meridiani surrounded by light powder blue Casa Milano upholstered chairs creates a beautiful feel of freshness, while the Il Pezzo chandelier brings a sense of romance and sophistication. We also created an office area in the niche, all with integrated storage. On this floor we have a terrace with a plunge pool, where the all-green mosaic tiles contrast provocatively against the reddish wood floor outside. A BBQ area with an outdoor dining space was also designed.

On the top floor, is the master bedroom. We wanted to create a very special place for our client. In the Master bedroom we designed and installed a white French-style wall cladding and incorporated a hidden door leading to the bespoke master walk-in wardrobe all in beautiful polished dark wood tones. The deep-blue-satin buttoned bed contrasts nicely with the white cladding and sits beautifully on a vintage rug in ash tones, while the caramel-glass lamps add warmth.

The master bedroom has its own terrace which we kept stylish and subdued while the en-suite bathroom is vibrant with its dark walls. The bathtub area frames the sea view beautifully, and sits on an elegant black Marquina marble slab that continues its way on to the floor. We chose rose gold taps to contrast with the stunning mosaic tiles selected.

In the basement we designed a bar area that looks out into the garage where cars will be showcased. Also in the basement a gym and a boardroom have been carefully designed so that each space can live in harmony with the other, always mindful of privacy, practicality and design. Each of these spaces was designed by Ambience and installed by our carpenters.

We were very happy to see our client’s reaction when he saw the conversion of his villa; it also space shows that even the most dark and gloomy properties can be turned into a beautiful home. Nothing better expresses our innate sense of dedication and creativity to each of our projects than the outcome of our work. Many thanks to Nicolas Dalli Consulting for their trust and collaboration.”
